Bashar Al Assad Net Worth: Bashar Hafez al-Assad is the 19th and current President of Syria. He is a son of Hafez al-Assad, who was President of Syria from 1971 to 2000. AL-Asaad was born on 11 September 1965, in Damascus. He is the second oldest son of Anisa Makhlouf and Hafez al-Assad. He graduated from the Arab-French al-Hurriya School and later studied medicine at Damascus University from where he graduated in 1988. After graduating he started to work as an army doctor at the Tishrin military hospital for a few years and then went on to begin postgraduate training in ophthalmology at the Western Eye Hospital in London.
Being the second oldest son, his elder brother Bassel was supposed to succeed their father but sadly Bassel died in an accident in 1994 which led to Basharn being made the new heir apparent. His father was in power and began to groom Bashar so that the exchange and transition of power would be smooth. Eventually on 10 July 2000, Bashar was elected president.

Assad married Asma al-Assad in 2000 and together with her, they have two sons; Hafez and Karim, and one daughter; Zein.
In January 2016, Putin stated that Russia was supporting Assad’s forces and was ready to back anti-Assad rebels as long as they were fighting ISIL. On 11 January 2016, the senior Russian defense ministry official said that the “Russian air force was striking in support of eleven groups of democratic opposition that number over seven thousand people. Asaad came into the fire in the media recently because of the 2017 Khan Shaykhun chemical attack which could potentially bring changes in the policy of its relationships with Donald Trump in power.
